Intensive Outpatient Program

Treatment for drug and alcohol abuse and addiction can be done on either on an “inpatient” or “outpatient” basis. The advantage of outpatient treatment is that it offers clients the opportunity to attend therapy sessions while maintaining the more significant aspects of “regular” life. With outpatient treatment, you can continue attending work or school, and you live at home.

Advanced Health & Education offers two types of outpatient drug rehab programs: intensive outpatient treatment programs, and non-intensive outpatient therapy.

Our Intensive Outpatient Drug Rehab Programs (“IOP”) include:

  • Nine hours of therapy each week,
  • Clients come in for a three-hour session, three times per week,
  • Depending upon clinical recommendations and insurance arrangements, IOP may last up to 16 weeks.

Following IOP, or if a less intensive program is clinically recommend, clients may participate in non-intensive outpatient therapy, which includes:

  • Four hours of treatment per week,
  • Clients come in for a two-hour session, twice per week.

Who is Qualified for Outpatient Treatment?

In general, outpatient treatment is available for clients who:

  • Have successfully completed a more intensive program
  • Have a lesser degree of addiction or substance abuse, or
  • Are not in a state of physical dependence where round-the-clock supervision is clinically recommended.

How Does Outpatient Treatment Work?

Outpatient drug rehab treatment provides clients with the tools needed to identify and prevent addictive behaviors, and ultimately to build a fulfilling life free from alcohol and other drugs.
Our outpatient drug rehab treatment programs take a holistic approach. In addition to individual and group therapy, outpatient treatment may include counseling about:

  • Family matters
  • Healthcare
  • Parenting skills
  • Job search and employment
  • Legal issues

Our outpatient treatment teams work with clients to address any factors that may present barriers to long-term recovery.

Factors Influencing Outpatient Drug Rehab Treatment Programs

The treatment program team at Advanced Health looks at any factors that may influence the treatment of a client’s addiction, including:

  • Type of addiction
  • Duration of addiction
  • Physical health
  • Family status
  • Other mental illness
  • Personal and professional commitments

These are just some of the factors that must be considered in planning the most effective outpatient treatment program for you. Our treatment professionals and treatment programs are equipped to handle a wide variety of substance abuse issues.

Other Disorders Influencing Outpatient Treatment Programs

Many people suffering from drug and alcohol abuse and addiction also have separate and distinct mental health issues. These issues can include:

  • Depression
  • Bi-polar disorder
  • Generalized anxiety disorder
  • Schizophrenia
  • Panic disorders
  • Borderline personality disorder
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder

Advanced Health coordinates with psychiatrists and psychologists to thoroughly evaluate client mental health issues, allowing us to make sure that clients receive comprehensive outpatient drug rehab treatment. These combined services are designed to help our clients restore peace to their lives, work towards a full recovery, and live free from addiction.

Aftercare Following Outpatient Drug Rehab Treatment

After you complete an outpatient drug rehab treatment program with us, we will carefully coordinate aftercare for you with our extensive network of addiction specialists across the United States. We will identify an appropriate aftercare program in your area and work with you to develop and implement strategies to prevent relapse into active addiction.

Outcome studies reveal that clients who participate in ongoing monitoring programs after treatment have the greatest chance of maintaining abstinence. These services are mandatory for certain healthcare professionals, pilots, transportation workers, and other employees.

Ongoing monitoring provides an added incentive and a much-needed boost in relapse prevention. We believe these services should be incorporated into an aftercare plan for our clients who are serious about recovering. We offer these services through our Alumni Association and case managers with whom we have relationships.
