Our Team

Advanced Health & Education is proud to introduce the licensed and certified alcohol & drug treatment professionals and caring support staff that make up our our New Jersey treatment team. Our treatment professionals have more than 40 years of experience in treating addiction and teaching the life-changing habits that can help you live a life free of alcoholism and substance abuse.

Our professionals incorporate all of our rehabilitation services into individualized addiction recovery programs specifically designed for each client.

Our treatment professionals are passionate about working with people in addiction recovery. They use every available resource to design recovery programs that meet our clients physical and spiritual needs.

Clients at our New Jersey rehab center also have access to alternative therapies that may enhance the rehabilitation process, including chiropractic services, acupuncture, yoga, and exercise programs.

Our Administrative Staff

Barbara Rexer


Executive Director

Dr. Rexer brings over 15 years of experience working in the substance abuse and mental health field. She has worked in a variety of treatment settings with adults and adolescents. Dr. Rexer works collaboratively with her staff to meet client’s where they are at and to motivate them to engage in their treatment. She believes in aligning with the client and advocating for them to effect positive changes in their lives. Integrating family and community support is also integral in a successful treatment outcome. Dr. Rexer earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Misericordia University and her Master of Social Work from Marywood University. Dr. Rexer earned her Doctorate in Social Work from Capella University. Dr. Rexer is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and a Certified Clinical Supervisor. Her dissertation studied how a collaborative approach between social workers and peer support specialists can assist clients in substance use treatment.

Rosa Curcia

Rosa Curcia, LCSW, CCS, ICCS

Clinical Director

Rosa earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from The University of Maryland and her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Rutgers University. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Certified Clinical Supervisor, and an International Certified Clinical Supervisor. Rosa brings with her over 20 years of experience working with the adult population in a variety of treatment settings. She strives to provide compassionate and client-centered care to those struggling with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders. Rosa believes in empowering clients on their recovery journey by equipping them with the tools they will need to be the best versions of themselves. She also believes in empowering the clinical staff at Advanced Health & Education to provide individualized and empathic care to the clients they serve.

Johannah Palmieri

Johannah Palmieri, CADC, HRC

Office Manager

Johannah is part of the team that keeps our facility running smoothly so that we can focus on helping our clients end their addictions. Johannah has worked in the substance use disorder recovery field for eight years and believes that if you can help one person in this life, then you have served your purpose.

Jo Myman

Jo Myman, LCADC

IOP Coordinator

Jo is a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor. She graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and received her Master’s degree in Addiction Studies from Monmouth University. Jo has experience with inpatient and outpatient settings where she worked with both adolescents and adults. She is experienced in treating clients with dual diagnoses of mental health and substance use disorders. Jo uses a variety of modalities which incorporate best practices from DBT, CBT, Motivational Interviewing and Solution Focused treatments. Jo is passionate about the field of addictions and appreciates the opportunity to empower people to embrace the many roads to recovery.

Catherine Korzemba

Catherine Korzemba, CADC


Catherine Korzemba is a Counselor at Advanced Health and Education. Catherine entered the field 6 years ago to follow her passion in helping those diagnosed with substance use disorders. Catherine uses a client-centered approach to treatment while utilizing motivational interviewing and cognitive behavior therapy. Catherine holds a CADC, AOS Degree and is in the process of obtaining her Gambling Disorder Certification. Before joining Advanced Health and Education, Catherine worked as a primary Counselor at New Hope Integrated Behavioral Healthcare in the withdrawal management unit and as an instructor at the IDRC.

Willam VonGlahn

Bill VonGlahn, CADC


Bill is a Counselor with Advanced Health and has more than 14 years of experience working with clients with addiction, dual diagnoses (substance use disorder and co-occurring mental health disorders), and chronic mental health conditions. Before joining Advanced Health, he spent time working with the New Hope Foundation, Ocean Mental Health, Preferred Behavioral Health, and the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center. Bill appreciates the opportunity his work gives him to help people who feel at their worst to rise up and overcome their challenges.

Traci Mobus

Traci Mobus, CADC

Counselor Intern

Traci is a Counselor at Advanced Health. She has been working in the substance abuse treatment field for more than five years. Traci has treatment experience working in various levels of care, including IOP, residential inpatient and detox. She holds an Associates of Science in Social Sciences, and is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. Her favorite part of her job is interacting with the clients and helping them get back on their feet.

Elizabeth Davies

Elizabeth Davies, BA, CADC


Elizabeth has been working in the addiction field for two years. Her favorite thing to do at work is helping the clients navigate through the difficulties of repairing damage caused by their participation with their addiction. The most gratifying aspect of her job is working one on one with clients in order to help them identify their strengths and begin using them to rebuild their lives. Elizabeth received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Delaware.

Justin Croak

Justin Croak, MSW

Counselor Intern

Justin has been working in the field since Oct 2013. He has a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. In September he will be working towards his master’s degree in Social Work at Monmouth University. His favorite part of his job is witnessing people transform their lives when embracing recovery.

Kelsey Gilligan

Kelsey Gilligan, LAC

Credentialed Intern

Kelsey entered the mental health and substance abuse field in 2015 and gained most of her clinical experience through the treatment of substance abuse and co-occurring disorders in Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient settings. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a Minor in Sociology in 2015 from York College of Pennsylvania and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2017 from Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ. Kelsey is currently a Licensed Associate Counselor in New Jersey, as well as a Nationally Certified Counselor. As a clinician, Kelsey believes creating a safe space and providing practical tools and strategies clients can use to build and embrace a healthier, more balanced life in recovery.

Kim Reid

Kimberly Reid, RN

Director of Nursing

Kimberly Reid has been the Client Care Supervisor at Advanced Health & Education since August 2017. She earned her Registered Nursing degree from Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, NJ. Prior to working at AHE, she was a Medication Nurse at Ocean Medical Services in Toms River, NJ and has over 4 years’ experience working in the field of addiction. Kimberly is most proud of establishing a compassionate environment at AHE Client Care, providing not only emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, but also reinforcing their understanding of disease, medication, and self-care skills.

Kelly Coppola

Kelly Coppola, RN


Kelly has been working in the client care department since March 2019. She earned her Registered Nursing degree from Muhlenberg School of Nursing in Plainfield, NJ in 2008. Prior to working at AHE, she worked as a nurse in a detox facility as well as a nurse on a medical/surgical unit in the hospital. Kelly prides herself in her compassion and her attitude is all about building others up and believing in them, even when they don’t believe in themselves.

Candice Kotkin DeCarvalho

Candace Kotkin-DeCarvalho, MSW, LCADC, RYT, CCTP

Lead Clinician, Alternative Recovery & Wellness

Candace has been working in the substance abuse treatment field for six years. She currently holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work, is a Certified Clinical Trauma Profession, is a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and a Registered Yoga Teacher. Candace currently facilitates the Alternative Recovery and Wellness program at AHE. Candace’s favorite part of her role is watching others begin to align their minds, bodies and spirits to holistically recover.

Brett Doyle

Safety & Maintenance

Brett is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day safety and maintenance matters that keep our facility operating smoothly. He has been working for behavioral health treatment companies for three years. He enjoys the challenge of learning something new every day with his work, and making sure that clients and co-workers have a safe and well-operating place to come to each day.
